Helping and Caring for the Elderly
in my Local Community During Covid-19
My name is Greg Kraynak. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 229 in Colmar, PA. I am currently working on the rank of Eagle, and the purpose of my project is to care for the underserved elderly in our community.
I want to help the elderly in our communities who are needy, especially those who are underserved, impoverished, and partially or fully shut in. So many have little or no family support. We can help them through outreach phone calls and ask them what their needs are, offering someone to talk to or providing basic supplies for their heath and well being. Then, we will coordinate the delivery of things they need – even food necessities – that we are able to safely gather.
There are many elderly people who are alone and without basic food and supplies. Some of them are living in a fragile situation. During Covid-19, the situation for our underserved elderly is even more difficult and unsafe. Even the simple step of going out and running errands can put them at risk.
Can you help with my Eagle Scout Project? Youth volunteers are welcome. Email me at greg.kraynak.family@gmail.com
